This unfussy, trim, white-tablecloth tavern with the fireplace and the spacious covered veranda is a bulwark of traditional Cretan cuisine. Onisimos Saridakis masterly handles the grill, and his wife, Eleni Vardaki, works miracles with the pots and the wood-burning oven. They put great emphasis on raw materials, getting meat from Mt. Asterousia, and making and growing their own cheeses and vegetables. Greek Cuisine Award 2018.
